Muck bad for cooling system?

Still searching for that right lake house....

We found a nice house but it's on a canal (on watkins lake, if any one has any familiarity and cares to share their thoughts on the lake condition) and there's a TON of sediment and muck in the canal...There's so much that it rests about 1' below the water's surface! People still drive there boats through there but undoubtedly they're sucking up sediment and muck.

I can only imagine this is not good for your cooling system. Am I way off here? Are these people slowly damaging there mastercrafts? Or should it be no worry (as long as no sand is making it's way in to the system) and we can buy this house? :)

Also, if anyone lives on this lake please feel free to enlighten me on the lake and it's +'s and -'s...

thank you

I don't have experience in that particular lake, but our lake is pretty dingy. It is a mud bottome lake that is fairly shallow. it averages 6'. We can usually see about 2' under and have never had any problems with cooling.

Our boats have been docked in a mucky canal for the past 15 years without any problems. Ours doesn't sound as bad as the one your looking though.

Have a friend with a house for sale on Maceaday Lake if your interested?

We lived on Watkins lake for 4 years before moving to Florida. It is a great lake. The majority of the people on the lake are very friendly. There is a course on the lake that is used a lot. The only problem we ever found with the lake is that if you are skiing the lake can get pretty tight with more than two boats out at the same time. The lake is arranged in a way that one boat can be using the course and another boat can be in the north part of the lake without any problem. I used to know someone who lived over in the canal area. They did not seem to have any issues with their boat. When we lived their the lake was extermely clean and they installed a well pump just before we moved to assure that the lake level was maintained if there was a lack of rain fall. A ton of Malibu's on the lake.

Let me know if there is any other info that you need on the lake. If we ever move back to the area I would definately look for a home on Watkin's lake.
