Tower Hoop Removal

Recommended Posts

My 2004 LSV won't go under my 7' garage door. I need an additional four inches of clearance that appears to be mainly the pylon hoop. There's another thread running in this forum where people are talking about removing the hoop. I looked and I don't remember seeing any spots on my tower where that portion could be removed. Are there different versions or did I just overlook it? I'd love to get that thing indoors off a lift when cold (to us) weather rolls around in November.

Many thanks!

The newer towers have a removable cross bar, the early one's do not. Yours is an early tower so it will not be removable.

Back when I used to go to Glamis/desert riding there were guys who needed to fit their sandcars in the toyhauler but their tires were way too wide. So to get it to fit they put on real small rims/tires and then when they got to the desert they would switch them out with air tools and a jack. Took maybe 15 minutes.

So the guys with boats here only needing 3-4 inches to get in their garage should think along those lines.

In my city, for enclosed storage, it is about $200 month so if I had to I would find a way to make it fit in my garage...even if i had to find old 1970 honda civic (10 inch rims) to put on the trailer only while its sitting in the garage. Its not like you are towing it with them. Yeah, it would suck switching them out when you wanted to use the boat , but like anything, you get fast at it.
