I had a fuel line leak at a fitting that was putting a fine mist into the engine compartment. I could smell it while on the water but did not find the problem until I ran the engine with the cover off. Now I run the blower and lift the hatch for a sniff. The nose knows. I also start the engine and take a quick look for fuel leaks, hoses and belts. All which have left me stranded over the years. I also found running the blower keeps thing cooler and I don't get that every now and then vapor lock.
