Trailer Pricing

I know lots of people feel that boat purchase price should not be discussed but how much does the trailer add to the price tag? If im looking at an 08/9/10 what should i expect the dealer to tell me is added to the invoice for that necessary trailer component.

I'm looking at a 20VTX most likely, not sure on single or tandem axles.... maneuverability is important to me..... i back my boat into a driveway about the same width as my current echelon trailer.... I've accepted the wheels on the new one may be on the grass a little.

Who makes the trailers these days? Eagle? Boatmate? Extreme?

If your buying from Skiers Pier, you will probably end up with an Eagle or an Extreme. For a VTX a single axle is more than sufficient, although some of the Crew may say otherwise :) . I have a single axle Eagle on my Vride and it pulls great, I have no complaints. When I bought my Vride last year I didn't want to pay for the Extreme upgrade, it was quite a bit more than the Eagle.

Most dealers have one or two trailers they order depending upon which area of the country you’re in. If maneuverability is very important than a single axel trailer is certainly easier than a tandem. Personally many of us out west travel long distances regularly and therefore prefer the stability and safety of additional tires on the road and the ability to limp home if necessary.

I have an Eagle Trailer and heard they went out of business ... and thought they were made in Wynott (sp), MI, googling them I do find them with an address of: 1419 11th Street North, PO Box 569, Humboldt, Iowa 50548.

Maybe they didn't go out of business ... or someone bought them out Dontknow.gif

Let us know if you find anything out on Eagle.

You can bank on $6K-$7500 depending on options. IMO the nicest trailers are made by extreme and boatmate.

They moved from Wyandotte, MI to Iowa.

You need to check your local regulations to see what's legal. A VTX weighs 3300 lbs with no gas, no tower....completely stripped/dry. A tower will add about 200 & 46 gallons of gas another 300, all by themselves. Some areas regulate that a boat weighing that much has to be on a tandem, so do your research.

Eagle is definitely still in business...a ski partner of mine just took delivery of a new Eagle trailer in the last 2 weeks, delivered straight from the factory.

I just checked my bill no breakdown on the trailer price, but another quot i got was $3,600 for a s/a Boatmate. This was in early 07.

I have a s/a Eagle and am happy with it. I do not trailer much and if I did I would have gone with a D/A trailer.

I like the s/a around the house.

No doubt that singles are more maneuverable and lighter, but I prefer tandems just for the flat tire issue. Flat tire on a single - at best you are on the side of the road changing it. Tandem - the flat can wait till you get home.

I pulled up to a stoplight the other day next to two stoners in a landscape truck pulling a single axle enclosed trailer. Not only did they have a flat on the trailer - which they were oblivious to - but about 90% of the tire had shredded off the rim. Party on, Garth.

I just had to purchase one because mine was damaged in a fire (just the trailer, not the boat!). I bought the exact same trailer that was sold to me by Ron at Skier's Pier with my 2007 VLX (Eagle tandem), and it was $4k.

Thanks for the help/Ideas....The Pier has a 08 VTX with 20Hrs and the monsoon/power wedge/teak platfrom/swim lights, sub, loaded (white, and red with a White Tower) for (internet price listed) 49k just trying to figure out by time i add a trailer and ideally have them throw a Malivue in it....if im better off just ordering a new 09/10.

My trailer was at the low end of that range, but you also have to factor in upgrades. Alloy wheels, swing tongue, spare (w/alloy wheel), prop guard rollers, std LED lights, tandem, 4 disc brakes, do you want galvy or aluminum? It all adds up.
