SS 21 LSV with a wedge and 1200 lbs of VAB

So my 21 LSV has a diamond hull (we also love to ski), the manual wedge, and no ballast tanks.

On Sunday I had an opportunity to put 1200 lbs of VAB in the boat and go wakeboarding.

This is the first time I have heard my engine labor at all. She did fine but you could tell the engine was working hard.

The wake was GREAT (at least for me). Not only was the wake larger, the transition was more gradual making more room to get the best timing for lots of air (and boy did I get lots of air).

I can see that the MLS with this hull and a wedge would give a great wake and I can finally understand why people sometimes want the HammerHead engine. Before this my older Monsoon 335 was always more than needed. The engine still did the job but was working hard. My guess is that the 320 HP engine would be dissappointing in a situation like this.

Try using a lower pitched prop. You will most likely suffer on the gas mileage a bit, but it will help immensely with the weighted wakeboarding.
