what is an I drive?

We have a V-drive now and love the room and the added weight out back for a better wakeboard wake and surfing wave.

Last boat was D-drive and i hated walking around it and the space it took up, bad wake for wakeboarding but great for skiing.

I assume he means direct drive. He probably got that from the iride being a direct drive boat.

where the engine is in the middle of the boat.

yes, direct drive is also called an i drive

We are a slalom family so the direct drive is the only way to go. I would love to have enough money for two boats but if you are going to ski the slalom course you need a direct drive.

Direct drive all the way. Drives me crazy when dealers try to tell me there v drive will do as well as a d drive in the course.

For Me, D-drive is the only way I'll go. It all depends on your wants and needs.

I have a DD wakesetter, good wake for both skiing and wakebording. I would have gottent the V drive but at the time the only V on the market was an extra 10K. Maybe later.

I wanted a DD as I love the classic lines and design, but my wife wanted a V-drive for the room and the layout. So we got a v-drive. In the end I have to admit the layout is really nice and we are not hardcore skiers anyway

As soon as my son left for collage the V drive went also. I am a skier and DD is the only boat for that.

Your son left to make an artistic composition made of various materials (paper, cloth, and/or wood) glued on a picture surface?:lol:Tease2.gif

Is he the first in your family to attend college? ROFL.gif I slay me. ROFL.gif

Sorry...feeling ornery today. Biggrin.gif

We're skiers, so direct drive. Also added our outboard to the poll. Its been in the family for forty years now and is still used as our saltwater ski boat.

I learned how to first waterskii behind a 1994 malibu exchelon(dads landlord) when i was like 13ish i want to say. I was slaloming 2 years later. I then had to just ski behind a rinker236. the was hudge so i had to cut my carve sooner to jump wake. then my dad bough the echelon in 2007. Id have to go with direct drive for sure if u want a hardcore slalom wake. I run 36 mph and never miss a beat on my carvs. im no pro and never ran a course but i can lay out and carve hard onside and off side and confinate i have the technigue to run a course but not sure how many off i can go down. ive never been below 22 off but now that i have a new A1 im gona do some experimenting. If i want to go wakeboarding i just throw sand bags in the front under the bow. (closed) and then run the ballast in the back. its not as big as say a new wake setter but its enough for what i want. not to talk about a competiter but id like to ski behind the new vector drive. one thing i dont like though is the ski pylon is still in the center of the boat which is kinda weird since its like a v drive but is soposed to have a smother wake and you have lots of seatings but u cant use the seating anyway cuz the plyon is in the center of the boat still. (duh if u ask me).

Wow. That post is hard to read. I contemplated doing to "corrected" version but I don't have that kind of free time. :lol:Tease2.gif

On the topic of running a course; confidence in your ability will not get you through a course, and I don't mean that to sound derogatory towards your abilities. It is so much harder than it looks it can't even be explained. I hope you get the opportunity to try it, it will really put into perspective what great athletes the pro skiers are. Where are you located? If you're in Nor Cal, I'll pull you through our course. I was on it this morning and I'm hoping to be back on it tomorrow after work. Thumbup.gif

sorry i was in a hurry when i typed it out. I know its hard to run a course. Ive seen it done. i know my first time thru wont be pretty and its not going to be at 36 mph and i know im not going to get all of them. id be happy with 2 or 3. the first one and maybe ball 3 and the last one lol. but serously im not your average free skier. i carve out one handed and extend out and pull down to my hips turning my body thru the turn keeping the rope tight. i live in iowa so im not anywhere close to cali. i wasnt trying to sound cocky like oh yea running a course is easy. trust me i know its not.

This post is just too painful for me to relive.......

Even if you still had it, it's not like you'd use your direct drive for any open lake skiing anyway. You Private Lake Snobs & your perfect water.....j/k. I'd totally be a Private Lake Snob given the chance.

And it's Direct Drive, not I-Drive.

What is going on? Do we need to send the internal affairs grammar police to investigate this breakdown in protocol ? Fingerwag.gif

You've now been stripped of the "self proclaimed" grammar police title. Whistling.gif
