Couple times a year we'll have to wave one over & explain the dangers of wake jumping behind a skier. Then again, we've had times where we get them to stay on one section of the river while we slalom on the other section.

I ski on the same river as Skier92....he is more calm than me...I had a completely idiotic teenage girl jumping my wake last year. By the time I dropped my wakeboarder and went over to her she was hanging by the boat of what I'm assuming were her parents (who saw the whole thing unfold). Admittedly I was a pretty emotionally charged and said some things I shouldn't have, but what really irritated me was the fact she didn't even realize she did anything wrong.....like another one of our ski buddies says "You can't fix stupid".....

But ignorance can be changed if the party is willing. Hey Spin, what's up, you got insomnia?

Just throw full beers at them :) Seriously though, one of the scariest times I have had on the water was when my wife was first learning to ride. There was a jet boat jumping really close to her and they were drunk. Didn't want to stop, because she might fall and get hit. Didn't want to keep going for the same reason.

Right after that, they did a donut around a guy with his daughter in the water getting ready to get up. He pulled her into the boat and gave these guys the arse-chewing of their lives. Needless to say, it wasn't even their boat. It was a small lake and a guy had a bunch of friends and family over grilling out and hanging on the lake. The owner apologized and took the keys.

I live on a lake and I own a PWC.

Not all PWC owners are idiots :)

However like anything else there are a few individuals that give everyone else a bad reputation.

When I am confronted by someone driving a PWC dangerously I take it upon myself to make sure that I have a face to face discussion with the offending party. On a couple of occassions I have had to chase them down and go up to the door of their cottage to have this dialog.

I do this in a diplomatic manner but I make sure that I make my point.

I share with them the fact that 10 years ago a good friend of mines 9 year old daughter was ran over and killed by a PWC while tubing.

If necessary I will also call the DNR to pay them a visit.

I take this matter very seriously!

Be safe out there..

This is a good reason to have a WS-420, cause if Im not happy with them they get to hear about it!!!

I dont mind them jumping my wave, I like to jump when i ride a PWC but have respect. I will be happy to go and make some waves for them to jump cause usaully they have no idea what they are doing and you get to see some pretty nice wipeouts. But if i have a rider, give we 200ft or more.

my response to a jetskier that is to close is usually "If you get any closer to my boat, I will rip your arm off and beat you to death with it" most of the time they put some distance betweeen us.

I know there are the good and the bad people on pwc's, bu i just wanted to see how everones else experiance with this was.

Someday maybe they will offer handheld acoustic weapons we can aim at bad jet skiers.

Disorientation and vomiting might be very entertaining.

Had to verbally abuse a 12 year old (yes he said he was 12 riding alone) a few weeks ago for riding my a$$ while I pulled a guy. Then not 20 minutes later my wife had to come to a dead stop while pulling me to avoid a pwc that cut her off and never even noticed she was there.

havent seen any get too close yet, and it is pretty funny to watch their faces bounce off the bars when they dont realize how big the wake is. And id be happy to make so waves for em too, but i agree there are some people that need to take education classes before getting on the water.

I enjoy riding jet skis, but 90% of the riders out there are idiots!

I usually just wave them off when they get too close and it's not too big of a deal, but I had one almost hit someone that was surfing and fell. I lost it. Ranting.gif I hauled @$$ after the jet skier, got right up beside him, and let off a few WTF's and MF's right in his face. I felt bad for losing my temper, but they put one of my friends life in jeopardy. To make the situation even more awkward, my parents were in the boat and had a few friends with them Whistling.gif The owner of the jet ski came over later to apologize for his friend. I don't regret it, but next time I will try to educate instead of just freak out.

Never have to much of a problem with them, but if they ever got to close to the boat or rider, there would be words between us. However I do know a jetskier that got to close to someone I know and after the jetskier crashed (fell off) the wakeboarder ollied over the jetski. Not real smart in my opinion but funny to watch.

We were riding around the perimeter of the lake a couple weeks ago. I'm driving, my wife is riding. I notice some small colored buoys in front of me so I veer right, more buoys, veer right some more, more buoys, so I stand up & look & there are buoys for 100' or more. So I just pick a line thru them & head straight thru them. There must have been 25 or more buoys 400' or 500' out into middle of the lake. And not very big ones either. As we reach the far side some clown on a standup Jetski with a small kid in front of him comes flying out right in front of the boat, yelling & screaming. I didn't even bother to stop. But about 10 minutes later I called the sheriff.

And an hour or two later I talked to someone else who had a run in with them too. Apparently their rider went down near their course. 3 guys on Jetskis came out & "swarmed" around the boat & rider. They tried to get the rider back up but couldn't do it with all the chop from these guys swarming around them. I asked how far away from the boat or rider they were & they said like 20' or 30' at most.

The real bummer is these clowns have an LSV too. And their just as bad with that. We've had them turn right in front of us as we go by on more than one occasion.

Several weeks ago I saw one of these guys in a white Sequoia almost cause an accident with another car on the freeway (it's a small town where everyone knows everyone). I couldn't tell who was driving thru the tinted windows but saw the same truck in front of their house a week or so later.

I expect we'll have another run in with them at some point. And we'll call the sheriff again too.

Paint ball guns.

I wish they were legal.

They're not accurate past 100' or so.

And velocity is so low after that, sometimes they don't even burst.

So, if I can hit you with and break a paint ball on you or your jet ski, you're too close to my boat.

I wish I wish I wish.

Make sure you bring a camera and get some photos that include the registration numbers. A friend of mine pulled out a camera and cell phone when some fishermen got uppidy. They were not so uppidy once they figured out what's up.

What were the bouys for?? docking??

I'm pretty sure it was some sort of course for them to run the jetskis thru. On one hand I understand they want something like that to mess around with. But it's a hazard to other boaters. So pick some small bay out of the way, not out in the middle of the lake!!

I twist the volume on the WS420 and let them have 350 plus watts from the tower of how I feel about them. Normally say, "If you continue to jump our wake we will turn around and jumps yours" Had one person shoot me the finger last season, our rider was done so they got in the boat and we returned the favor. The look on the guys face was priceless as we zigzagged back and forth across his wake at the same distance he was doing it to us. Later came up to us at the beach telling me how dangerous it was, I explained that we were the same distance that he was from us when we had a rider. He responded that it was different because we were doing it to him in a boat. Like someone else said you can’t undo stupid.
