Ronix One

Just picked up a Ronix One 142 and have not had a chance to really get any riding time on it, but was wondering how many people have this board and what you think.

Isn't that the same board you laughed at me about last year? The one with the "bling".

If you remember, I returned mine......

I heard the One's pretty good, but that the Ibex is slightly better. I doubt you'll be unhappy with the board either way!

LOL, I think it is. Bu this one doesn't have all that bling on it :) I think the 09' is slightly a different version than the one you had. I should have been more clear on the year. This one is black:

It has a continuous rocker design I haven't seen before and wanted to see if I liked it, I had to return my board and have nothing to ride.

The question is will they let you demo it and return it if you don't like it? If you are just going out and buying a replacement for the HL, why not look at the Liquid Force Witness or the Liquid Force Lyman?

They have a 30 day no questions money back return or replacement for another board. I told them I was riding the Hyperlite Marek and the sales rep. suggested that this one would be slightly better.

They didn't have the Liquid Force Witness, I looked for it.

I need to get out on it a little more and see how it responds, it was really choppy out last Sunday but it was pretty stable for the water conditions. I only got two chances to get some edge on smooth water and it felt a little slow but I think I need a bit more time on it. It sure felt light though, a little lighter then the Marek.

I've ridden the old(the white one) One and loved it! My buddy has been riding the 09 One and loves it! I have the Ibex and am not a huge fan Dontknow.gif ..... Can't really put my finger on it but I'm just not that comfortable on it. Now as a disclaimer, I'm not very good at all......

Love the Ronix product and their customer service is GREAT!

That's a big plus.

I think my problem is that I've been reading too much on the types of rockers, width versus length available and I just want to try different boards before I decide to stick with the Marek. I really like the HL Marek but it's a bit loose on edge, I know I can probably work on that with more riding time but I want to give them all a shot this year and see what happens.

Aren't all pro boards designed to be loose on edge? Better spins/release off the wake. Fundamental design?

Tony, I picked the Lyman board, but have yet to try it. If you want to Demo it just let me know.

I guess my question to you would be, how many boards have your ridden? The rocker has to do a lot with shape and bottom of the boards are so different on every brand and model it's endless. It's hard to find a board that has great pop, light, loose and fast that is why I'm where I am today. I'd like to ride as many boards as possible this summer to see where my Marek stands.

I ride an 07 with 08 bindings and I like it.

long story short I was not a fan of the bindings at all when I first got them but after wearing them a lot lately and breaking them in I think they're great.

The board went unchanged from 07 to 08 and I love how great it carves. The landings are a bit rough with the huge flat spot it has.

But they updated the shape in 09 as well as huge binding improvements. People that weren't fans of the 07 shape can ride an 09 all day long now and people like me that enjoy the old shape, like the 09 even more! It's a great board. I can't wait to see what they do to it in 2010 or 11 and just might have to upgrade..

ohh, and post up some pictures!! Rockon.gif

I had a Ronix ONE 142 when they first came out and I likes it a lot but I was coming off of the Hyperlite Premeir which is what Danny was riding before he moved to Ronix. It was a faster than the Premeir and rode great but it has a very aggressive 3 stage rocker and I found out that it always put the tip of the board very high. Now that was probably my riding style that caused that because I tend to ride a little back foot heavy. All in all a great board I landed my first Heelside 180 on that board and it helped me advance to the next level. However now I ride the Liquid Force Watson and love that board mainly because it is a smoother countious rocker versus an abrupt 3 stage rocker and suits my riding style better. (The Lyman is very similiar to the Watson, which I am currently riding because I snapped the Watson acouple days ago.) Crazy.gif

Just go out for several sets and get used to it before you make a decision

Yes and the Marek to me seemed to have more pop, plus the Murry felt slightly heavier

I ride the murray. Marek is built for taking beatings. Not that the murray can't, but that's their marketing position on the marek... beefy board.

The loosenes is less related with the rocker type and more related to fins and built in tracks. The larger, deeper the fins are, the more secured/locked in the board will feel. If it has channels down the entire length of the board, those restrict the lateral flow of water, and again, help to keep the board stable in the water.

More advanced boards will have a bottom with fewer chanels and shorter fins. This allows the board to break loose easily and launch off the wake rather than being held down due to forces genered by the fins.

If you want speed and pop, you're going to want a high-end 3-stage. If you want more consistency, more predicable pop, with a little slower speed on the water, you'll want a continuous rocker.

You too, we are doing some family things that don't include the boat this weekend but from the 18th on it will be every weekend and if you want to set up a middle of the weekday thing just give me a few days notice :)

If you don't like the board when you ride PM we might be able to work out a deal......

OK, I'll let you know.

Sorry, had to point out that you will not have a good amount of speed with a 3-stage board. The continuous rockers are known for having more 'predictable pop' and more speed while 3-stages are slower and less 'predictable' off the wake but are able to generate more pop.

However, predictable is a relative term because with good technique your pop should be be consistent whether you're on a 3-stage or not.
