Leak from exhaust tube

Recommended Posts

Maibu Crew,

Re: 99 Response LX

I have a slow leak running down back below right exhaust tube. Bilge is running aprox every 2-3hrs. Gave clamps at back a slight tightening and nothing changed.

I would like to seal exhaust outlet and was not sure how to go about it.

Did not want to get in over my head and wanted to approach all possible causes of the leak as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

NiceResponse

PS I just got the boat this year and I love it. Also think this is a great forum for newbies like myself. Thanks Malibu Crew.

not sure what you mean by exhaust tubes, unless you are refering to the mufflers? they can be reglassed if there is a leak in them. Also, you sure the water isn't just coming from the packing (which it should), and the pump coming on ever 2 hours is not that uncommon (especially since wet people coming onto the boat add to that too).

I traced the water. It was flowing down along fibre glass on the stern just below exhaust as it exits boat.
