Gear Storage Ideas

Does anybody have any good storage ideas (pictures, drawings, etc.) for all my gear that goes with my boat?

I have a large barn that I built in which I store my boat, but am looking to make some storage racks/shelves for my skis, kids skis, wakeboard, surfboard, ropes, jackets, tubes, etc.

All that stuff just piles up during the week and I would like a nice way to organize it and dry it.

Figured some of you people have to be well organized.

I put peg board on one of the walls of my garage and bought the pegboard hangers (dont know the name of them) and hang all our stuff on them. Lets everything dry out, no piles and out of the way. I have a pic somewhere, I'll try to find it. I also built a board rack out of pvc for my wake and surfboards, didnt cost much and easy to do.

here is a couple of pics

we modified the shelves in our ski locker, which used to be solid material, and used the mesh plastic material (that is used for fencing gardens from Home Depot). This helps dry things out, and also eliminates the little furry critters from nesting in there, since they have no place to hang out.

These "L" shaped aluminum brackets are $2 each at home depot. They come with the pipe insulation/padding and two screws for mounting each bracket to the wall (I obviously put them closer together for my wakeboards). I put ski vests on hangers and hang them from the brackets, or slide one arm hole of a vest over the bracket and hang to dry. Each brackets will hold 2-3 life vests.

^^^ Yeah, I'm jealous.

I mounted a long clothes hangar pole on each side of my garage. I bought a bunch of plastic hangars and hang everything up after each trip.

What are they sold at home depot for? I mean what is their intended use/ brand name?

Plus1.gif made mine the same way and use it the same way...

BTW, the garage with fans set up is amazing. Mine's always on a lift but I wish I had access to a garage like yours sometimes just to give it a good cleaning...

They are sold in the section that has bike racks, bike hooks, masterlocks, flashlights, garage cabinet organization, shovel hooks for storage/organization, etc.

Their use is pretty much for hanging stuff on. I don't recall if there was a specific purpose (like a "bike hook")...but I could be wrong.

The brand was possibly "Can-Do" or "Rubbermaid"...I can't recall, but will check when I get home in a couple hours and post it up here this evening. These aren't in the closet section, they are usually near the tools, door knobs, general garage organization section...like where the pegboard organization is for tools.

For the price and simplicity, you can't beat it. I do like txdyna65's board rack out of PVC, not too tough to make and inexpensive (I made one previously), but I found that these are also inexpensive and no hassle building it.

Here's the pics of it. 50lbs rated, designed for storing ladders or other long items. Everbilt is the brand, but I couldn't find it on-line. Also, they aren't $2-3 anymore, now $4.50 each.

I store both my ski and my board on it, and hang the life vests on each one. However, I did add more pipe insulation to cover the entire bar.

Here is a thread from a couple of years ago concerning Garage storage. There are some pictures on the 3rd page of the racks and storage system I built in my garage using suggestions from the Crew. The whole setup has worked great.

Some great ideas and pics.

Gonna get started on some of these.

Thanks
