Fuel filter location

Recommended Posts

I am looking to change the fuel filter on my 04 Sunsetter xti with a 340 Monsoon. I can see one under the rear floor pannel, is there only one filter on this year boat? Also what is the trick to remove the floor pannel to get access to the filter? Any idea what the part number is?

On my 02 XTI the fuel filter is behind the rear storage trunk right above the gas tank. I think there are screws in the floor hidden under the seat?

I was by the fuel tank a few weeks ago and there were no filters there. I noticed the fuel lines went from the top of the tank down the back side and then under the tank. If I look under the rear floor panel I can see where the lines go back to the tank and one in-line filter. that filter is the only one I can find. I understand on some boats there was two filters and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing one.

There is only that one filter you are seeing under the floor. There is also a fine screen on the inlet side of the fuel pump, but if you are prudent about changing the fuel filter which is upstream from this screen, it should never need attention.

It is indeed there.

If you do change it you have to make sure that the fuel system is not pressurized. (depressurize it first) Otherwise you will have lots of fume to get rid of :)

Seeing that someone added a post, the Indmar manual suggests to replace it annually.

My friend can't find the fuel filter on his '07 LXI. Someone told him it's in the fuel tank. Is that true and is it easy to change?

That is where his fuel filter was in his '04 LXI but the '07 has no fuel filter under the floor.

Unfortunatly, no.

I had my dealer replace it. I had some warranty work to be done, so had to take it there anyway.

I however asked to see where it is, as not many new about this "new" location at 2007.

Nothing even close.

It is inside the fuel tank.

BB

It's possibly this fuel filter, if it is the inline one.

Napa part#3248

So BB have you changed one of these? My friend said there is a snap ring on top of the fuel tank.
