Throttle sticks in reverse

Recommended Posts

Skiing with a new aquaintance today and three times when he shifted into reverse, the throttle could not be moved to neutral, until we opened the engine cover. Without further inspection, it seemed like there might be an iterference fit between the the plastic one piece, three cup holder on the rear of the engine cover and the cable linkage. Anyone experience same? (05 Response RLXI, Hammerhead, Closed cooling, Perfect Pass.)

Check the air filter. I cleaned mine one time and had it twisted just enought that the cable hit the filter and when I went into reverse it would unhook the cable. To fix it just loosen the filter an turn it a little I have a RLXI Monsoon 340 not sure if the hammerhead is set up the same way. Dave

I heard this was a problem in 05 and 06, is there a recall out on it from Malibu. Last year our local dealership had alot of boats in getting this fixed
