Tracking fin replacement

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

We had the unfortunate event of hitting some rocks yesterday at a no wake speed.

After limping it back to the lift, I found a damaged prop, and three tracking fins that were about half way sheered off. Amazingly there was no fiberglass damage to discuss. The base of all three fins are intact and still seem to be fine. Thank god for Nibral.

My question is, has anyone replaced their tracking fins? Am I crazy for even thinking of doing this myself? I really want to have the boat ready for the 4th, and have no guarantees it could be done by the dealer by then.

Thanks for any input.

I had to replace the front one a long time ago and from what I remember the screws were really tight but other than that it was pretty darn easy. Had to use sealant as well. I think it is just 4 screw and then knock it with a rubber mallet to break the seal.

I removed the fins with out any problem and was ready to reinstall new ones, but found other issues.

The propshaft and strut need replacement. It's going to the dealer.
