surf edition bu

I hear of more and more talk that people are spending the majority of their time surfing. Has anyone heard whispers or anything that malibu will make surf specfic boat? Or at the very least do what centurion does with ordering a different prop rotation? Im finally getting the hang of it and im hooked! And have decided that im not going to trade until they engineer a surf hull or find another boat i like that does. For some reason I dont like the looks of the enzo, but then again ive never been behind one and should let the wake do the talking. I am happy with the wake my boat is putting out now, but if something comes along that blows my mind i wouldnt be able to help myself. Then again im wondering when will the debate begin when it comes to wakesurfing how big is too big, before others on the lake really start causing an uproar?

I wonder if this is going to be like snow skiing/snowboarding - e.g. certain lakes or rivers are going to be ski or wakeboard only, while others allow surfing. As the sport gets bigger (and the wakes get bigger) there will be a point when the protesting will begin.

The wake is bigger but much softer. When we are wakeboarding with 4000lbs the wake crashes the shore much harder than surfing

figures 4K wake moving at 10mph vs 25mph

Love the idea of a surf edition 'bu. Seems like someone ought to come up with a more sophisticated way of making a good wake than filling sacs of water, plumbed in or not. Hey Malibu, can I come work with your R&D department on this project? "Will work for surf."

Thats funny. I was thinking of the same thing.

Call me crazy, but this is my idea. What about a wedge on the transom mounted to a bracket that would slide horizontally on the boat. You could slide the wedge off center to the surf side and get the boat to list underway and create a surf wake without the ballast bags off center. Just seems like an great idea to make an already awesome wake shaping device even more versatile! Rockon.gif

Sounds like a good idea to me, although ive heard the old saying "theres no replacement for displacement". I think a good addition to your idea would be prop rotation option, maybe a deeper hull, and huge inboard ballast tanks. Possibly maybe tanks built into the sides of the boat??

Now we're talking! Man the surface area on the side of a boat is pretty large. If you could work a "tank" into the side of the boat that was a few inches thick that weight would add up fast. Thumbup.gif
