Malibu Trailer

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, new here but hoping someone may have the answer to a little problem I have.

I have a 23' VLX Wakesetter and a Malibu Trailer. I think it's an extreme trailer, anywho... first time out this year, I noticed that the left rear tire on the trailer was off the ground when I let the tongue down on the hitch..

I believe it's a torqflex style axle, so I decided to back the trailer up to a curb to flex it a little.. All it did was jack the tire up further into the fender well.

Confused as to what the issue is.. Hoping someone may have seen this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Bill

Sounds like you need to raise the hitch on your tow vehicle. The trailer should be level, not angled down toward the tow vehicle. Try flipping a drop hitch over so it will effectively raise the hitch ball up higher.

Also, 23 is a LSV and 21 is a VLX

My Extreme trailer has a very high tongue...the highest of all seven of my trailers. I bet if you raise the ball your issue will go away.

Lol...at least one guy got it right.

The torflex axle likely lost it's snubber, that provides the torsion control. I believe it was Uflex axles had an issue with their adhesive in 2002. Anyhow, yes, the OP needs a new axle.

So now both axles are broken... Called extreme, $140.00 per axle, 90LBS UPS.. prob $50 to ship. Seems to me these axles are junk. One axle should be able to take the load if one is broken atleast to get you to a service spot. Second axle didn't last 5 miles in town.
