Here is the deal. We have a 2006 23 LSV that we love and keep at the beautiful Lake Alan Henry in west Texas. The problem just like all other nice lakes around the country is its packed on weekends since its the only water out here. But we have a spot so good and so secrect that we used to go to years ago that Im ready to go back to that is always glass and never crowded the only thing it is salt water. Not very salty but does have it in it. Our LSV has the Hammerhead but from what I have read in the owners manuel and on this site is under no cercumstances run salt water through this engine. So my question is do I try the Malibu closed cooling system which is pretty expensive and Im not sure how good it is, or do I just sell the boat and get another with steel heads that can handle the salt. I really dont want to leave this lake but I tired of trying to fight the crowds. All info would be appreciated especialy on the Malibu closed cooling system.

The closed cooling system (salt water system) for the hammerhead is the best one that indmar makes. One of the salesmen at my local dealership has an 08 vlx salt water package and chose the HH engine because he says the closed cooling system on that motor is better than the 340. I'll take his word that it works well, he rides in mostly salt water.

Thanks for the quick reply 06vlx, thats what I want to here. I love this boat and dont want to let it go but Ive got to get out of these crowds and get back to the good life of being on the water when I want and not having to time it when no one else is there. I want to spoiled again.

I have an 04 380 HH and bought the half closed system. I bought it from Bakes and their price was way better than anyone else. It is an Orca system. It's not the full system so I will eventually have to replace the manifolds but the engine is good to go.

When he sold his (I think) 2005 w/HH it looked good for being used in SW for 2 or 3 years.
