Wakeboard bolt stripped in insert

No Wake Zone

Recommended Posts

I bought a new wakeboard for my kids. I bought a liquidforce board and hyperlite bindings. The bolts on the binding hardware were slightly longer than the shallow depth of the board inserts. So in my haste I stripped one of the bolts / clamp in the board. Now it won't come out. It turns, but won't come out.

Does anyone have any idea how to get it out of the board insert? Thanks for the help.

Mine is doing this also, I will be watching this thread. I think the insert is just spinning.

can you just get a new bolt and use a different hole?

I can't get the bolt and clamp out. That's the problem. If I can do that, then I could use a different hole possibly.

Im not sure if this is the same thing or not, but early last year I had one do this when I overtightened it. The plastic piece was stripped inside and would not turn the bolt, but the plastic top would turn. I ended up cutting the plastic top off the bolt and used pliers to turn the bolt to get it out.

Thanks Kenny. That is exactly what happened. I cut the top off and used a pair of vice grips to unscrew it.

I think mine was brand new when I did it and I didnt have a spare at the time (was actually my wifes board) . She wasnt real happy lol Ive since bought several spare ones and have switched to the kind that you have to use a phillips screwdriver on. More of a pain to carry a screwdriver for that, but I dont have the stripping problems anymore.

Glad you got it out, Im sure your kids were about as thrilled about it as my wife was

Exactly my scenario! And you are right the kids were not thrilled and neither was I. I was going to go with the phillips screw type as well. Thanks again.
