Allen Wrench Screws

Recommended Posts

I found a small screw (roughly 3/8" long and 1/8 inch diameter) with an allen wench head on the floor of my boat between the driver's and passenger seat a week ago, and then found another one today. Does anyone know what they are for? I can't see where they are coming from...but I didn't have time to do a thorough search for open holes today.

Thanks in advance!

Is it a screw or NF/NC thread? If it's a acme type thread that would be a first

email them to me and I'll post them (will PM my email address)

Maybe Malibu started throwing a couple of set screws for HO fin blocks into the boats for people like me that are having a hard time finding the SS ones locally.

Well,

Those are set screws. What'd they'd be for, I dunno.

Maybe the fin block like Mlange said?

edit, oh wait, I think it is for the bimini like l1spoogy said. It would lock the aluminum poles into the plastic ends.

I think they came from the engine :)

Yeah, Definitely from the engine. Aren't those the ones that hold the piston clappers onto the upper crankmaters ? Whistling.gif

Hmmm....I don't have a bimini, and my new Inland Surfer boards (The Swallow and the Red Tide) have traditional philips head screws for the fins. I did check my older Blue Lake but it has it's two hex screws holding in the fins.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

My best guess would be to crawl up under the dash with a flash light. Look at and touch everything to see if you find something that will move. Speakers, dash light assemblies, gages, switches, ect.

Did you have anyone in the boat just prior to this? Did they have anything on board that the screws could have fallen out of? I know that's a long shot but.....

What about the rearview mirror, walkthrough windshield or glove box hinge?

I've been out of town, so today was the first day I was able to get back down to the boat. I checked everywhere for holes where screws may have fallen out, but no luck. It must be liljohn leaving them in the boat to mess with me. :)
