Dual Speedos issues

Recommended Posts

95 Response. Bought it this year and have loved it!.

We were on the boat all day mostly just floating and swimming with no problems.

Went in for dinner and put it on the lift and it sat on the lift for about 1 1/2 got back in it to do a couple sets before sundown (once all the tubers were done!)

Started right up started taking off and BOTH speedos were not responding. I then turned the engine off and restarted it.

After the restart one on the left worked like it always has and the one on the right was really slow to come up and down.

This is the first time we have ever had problems. They always have worked great and in exact unison.

I looked for a couple of threads on the issue. Most were about water in the lines.

any help would be appreciated...

Assume you have mechanical pic-ups... the type that drag off the back of the boat, vs the paddle wheel style (those are newer). Run a paper clip through each of the pic-ups, they tend to pick up debris at times..

The '95 pickups were Airguides pressure pickups, not venturi's. Pick the debris out, but don't run a paper clip all the way through - you'll push out the brass plug on the back side and then have no pressure at all. :)

Debris the probable culprit or the pitot's got kicked up thus out of the water. If debris, you might consider changing to the venturi style, they work much better and don't plug up nearly as easily. A simple swap.
