Child's life vest size?

Recommended Posts

My daughter is ready for a new life vest. She's moving out of the kind that's made from nylon with head floater on the back. She's exactly 50 lbs. The problem is that the sizes go from 30-50 lbs and 50-90 lbs, from what I can find. The 50-90 is too big. A 30-50 lb jacket in neoprene will still fit, but is pretty snug.

Has anyone ever seen in-between sizes, say 40-60 lbs, in neoprene?

personally, i would get the 30-50 neoprene snug fit now and get her a new one again next year. snug is good.

Thats what we had to do, our daughter was too small at 50 pounds for the 50-90, but after another year we got her one and it fits great.

I have the same dillema... 7yr old daughter is 52lbs. I have both sizes in neoprene (30-50, and 50-90). The concern with a too large vest is that it will go up over her head in the water.

My plan is to have her wear the "snug" vest during all water sports, and let her wear the roomier (dry) one while cruising in the boat.

Same issue. Son is around 55 right now. I'm going to look into one of the new Eagle neo vests. They just started adding a number of child's sizes this year.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may have to go with the two vest system. Not the most cost effective, but probably the safest and most comfortable.

I did check the Eagle Sports website, but didn't see the kids sizes.

They haven't put them up on the Eagle site yet, but they definitely do have them. Chuck even did a video showing a couple of kids wearing them. If you are interested I'd suggest calling them.
