Battery Question

Just got a 2005 LSV 25 and it has 3 batteries. Is this normal? It does have a nice stereo and does have a switch with the 1,2, or all selection and I guess the stereo is hooked to the front 2 batteries which I'm guessing is the #1 switch, then theres thebackup which is #2 but I can be wrong. What would be the best way to get this situation firgured out? I appreciate the help.

Since you have a switch, trace the wires. This may mean that you will have to remove the switch to be sure. Or, you could disconnect one and see what changes. Process of elimination. Three is not standard as far as I know.

The best way to make sure it's set up is to have 2 deep cycles on #1. Use this to run the stereo all day.

Have a cranking battery on #2 to keep isolated and start your boat when you run your stereo too long. (I think #2 on perko switches has some sort of ignition protection. I have no idea what that consists of but I just went with it and did engine start on #2)

The deep cycles are designed to be drawn from all the way to empty then recharged. The cranking battery will last longer if you keep it near a full charge most of the time.

It's pretty much like having a jump pack permanently installed in the boat. It's a good thing to have.
