Impellor change on Mercruiser Tow Sports

Recommended Posts

I have Mercruiser (Mercury Marine) Tow Sports 350 engine. While they engineered the engine so all I have to do to winterize the engine is simply remove 4 blue plugs, the big downside is that the impellor housing is down low strarboard side. The impellor housing is halfway into the bilge. It appears that in order to pull it out I will have to remove 2 intake hoses and remove the water / fuel filter for easier access. Does anyone out there know an easier way of doing this? What was your experience? Or should I fork over the $60 to my dealer and save my knuckles & call it a day.

Thanks,

Skistud,

You and I need to make sure we get either other's contact information. I got an 2004 RLXi with the Black Scorpion a couple of months ago and the one thing I don't like about it is the lack of resources online for information that someone can easily get with the Monsoon.

I'm going to be tackling the impeller for the first time next spring. If you get to it beforehand, please make sure you take pictures and write down the steps. It would really help me out. If I do it before you, I'll make sure I'll do the same.

One question for ya... how many RPM's are you turning right now at WOT (assuming you have the ACME 515)?

Thanks,

Mike
