Well i just purchased a 2005 malibu wakesetter vlx approximately a month ago and i love the boat it rocks. But approximately 2 weeks ago i just got done riding and while i was driving the boat the engine turned off and the display read ECU and the boat wouldn't start again. So i took the boat to a shop and they said the ecu plug was broken or something like that and the samething happened yesterday can anybody please help me out. Oh and one other thing i just got a brand new stereo system installed could that be the problem.

check where they tapped into power for the new system maybe they hooked into the ecu and the low voltage is causing the problem

or they damaged the connector when installing

good luck

another thing they also told me was the the fuel pump fuse blew the first time and it blew this time too but they still don't know what the problem is both times this happend we were using the ballast and the wedge and it happened shortly after or towards the end of the run.

I would contact Paul at bakes and explain the problem to him

but might not help if you already have a mailbu dealer looking at it

maybe see if you can barrow a ecu from another boat to see if you're ecu is bad

all i can think of

Mine did this exact thing once a couple of years ago and I believe that is what it said on my screen as well but

I could be wrong. It turned out to be the lanyard. I put a dime between the switch and the lanyard clip so

that there is a tighter fit and I have never had the problem again. May not have anything to do with your issue

but worth a look see. I know Malibu had a problem with a batch of those kill switches.
