Maybe buying this boat on friday, what do you think

Also might want to ask if/how the motor was marinized. There are quite a few parts on a marine motor - carb, alternator, starter, water pump that are different than a car. Those mods are to prevent possible fuel vapors that collect in the enclosed engine/bilge of the boat from igniting and to allow the parts to survive circulating raw water vs. anti-freeze.

Hey I've got one of those.....

I say $8800 is high. No WAY is it worth $11995. Test drive it & look for leaks (oil/water), feel for vibration. Who knows how many miles were on that motor. The motor box looks a little rough. The seat bottoms & gunwale have been reupholstered (different color). I bought my '93 4 yrs ago for $11500...BUT, it had everything pictured & more. And the interior is super clean, a couple small knicks here & there. Tower, bimini, racks, 2 custom covers, ropes, handles, vests & wakeboards.

12K does seem a little aggressive Dontknow.gif .

if it was mint, original motor, and had tower/board racks, etc. then maybe worth closer to 12K Thumbup.gif .

overall, it looks like it is in really nice shape, though. the vinyl on the motor box needs a little lovin, but that would be an easy fix.

if it's your first boat, I think you'd be really happy with it!

welcome to the crew!

Nice looking boat.

I am a skeptic.

Ask the dealer to give you the name and number of who they bought the F3 from. I think you need to do more research concerning the engine swap. You need to get the straight story from the previous owner.

How about spending a few bucks to have a mechanic check the compression and condition of the engine. We all get emotional about our boats and it is better if you hire a disinterested party to look at our purchase objectively.

Following this board for the last few months I have been alerted to major boat repairs that have to be made by new owners of the older boats. Not in every case but maybe 30% or so. There are also some garage queens that are a dream come true.

I think it is too hard to be objective so I encourage you to get a 3rd opinion.

It is much easier to avoid the problem now. Once you own it these boats are a difficult sell in this downturned economy.

it is a consignment boat. the guy i am buying it from had the engine swapped, he says he worked for correct craft for 5 years and has owned multiple boats. the lt1 engine has 36 hours on it as of now. it is no longer at bay, i will meet the guy at his house and do water test from there. the engine was swapped at bay and they said it was marinized. so $8800 is a good deal or average deal

No help on the boat but just wanted to let you know that Jim at BAWS is a great dealer and very straight with people. I bought my used '97 MC 190 (and traded my '88) from him long distance. When I made the 10+ hour drive to get it the boat was exactly as advertised and the transaction was smooth and simple.

I bought our boat last year for $7500 and it came with a ton of gear(anchors/barefoot boom/fly high pole/lifejackets/tubes/skis/wakeboard/kneebaord/extra prop/etc) and I thought I got a killer deal. It has a new floor and upholstery. I would have paid $8800 for a 90's Euro F3 with an open bow that was in really good shape. Heck I would pay $500 now to make my boat easily accept a wedge!
