New boat, engine trouble

We just bought our 247 LSV brand new last year. It was in and out of the shop for various problems. We ended last season with it running great. Less than 40 hours total on the engine. We had our dealer winterize the boat, and we kept it in coverred storage. A crew from Malibu in Merced de-winterized it, updated some of the systems, etc.

On our first outing this year, we just got beyond the bouys, started out, and just as we got on plane, the RPM's cut and we got an engine fault warning.

Diagnosis by the dealer; bent rocker arm. What's up with that? Brand new engine, ran great last year, first outing and blammo!

that sounds fishy, did they tell you what they thought caused the rocker arm to bend? could you have hydrolocked it?

I would demand a leak down or blow by test. Be 100% sure you did not have piston to valve contact. if you have a hydro locked motor you don't see a bent rocker arm but could have rod or barring problems.

Witch motor is it? Hydraulic or roller lifters. Could be a lifter or push rod problem. Also could have damaged the cam shaft.

Rocker problems tend to come from Hi RPM, broken valve springs, Bent push rod.

End the end I would want to know the cause of a problem like that not just replace the rocker arm.
