Opinions On Commercial Sewing Trailerable Covers

I've been looking for a trailerable cover for my VLX and Rankin and Evolution are the two that I have seen recommended here; I've already talked with Cory.

I was reading "WAKEBOARDING" magazine yesterday and saw an add for "Commercial Sewing", they had some great videos on their site demonstrating trailerable covers. According to the magazine these covers are available through your local dealer. Has anyone had any experience with this cover? I've sent an email off to them and my dealer for more info, have a look and see what you think.

Been pleased overall with ours on a vride. Easy to use and has held up well for 2yrs as primary storage cover and mooring cover. Only issue has been with trailering with cover on and sometimes sliding up/over the bow rubrails. Either the cover is slightly too small and/or the stainless bow rails on our boat cause the cover to not fit well enough to create a good seal when trailering.

For all those that took the time to view this Post; according to the Company and Dealer the "Patented Strapless Trailering System With Vacu-Hold" is the stock cover. So there you go.

My personal opinion would be to not buy one. Again, in my opinion - they don't breathe enough even with vents, they don't fit well enough around towers to keep the water out, and it's nearly impossible to put one on in the water (or on a trailer with any breeze) by yourself.

Not a fan.

Peter :)

ps - dealers can order any cover they like, I'm not sure CS is still on the list, but I get all mine from Great Lakes. (Sunbrella with ratchet strap)

Plus1.gif We are back to Sumbrella around here.

I'll add another problem, if the cover ever gets filled with water because its parked on a hill, not adjusted etc it will never be the same again.

As a towing cover, from what I've seen I think that it's a great cover. I would not consider it for a mooring or storage cover however, for all of the reasons listed here. I think that they're more expensive than an Evolution though, & personally I'd go with Cory even if it was the same price. JMO of course.

The super duper "Patented Strapless Trailering System With Vacu-Hold" came with the boat. I'm not happy with the way it seals around the tower. For trailering as was pointed out it sshould be ok; until it stretches out of shape. Just need to make sure I wrap painters tape around the hull first regardless of which cover I'm using. After the emails and phone calls with Cory I'll be ordering an evolution.

They are actually cheaper then the sumbrella covers, probably why so many dealers tried them out!

I have the CS cover, it came with my 2007 BU.

It is good for mooring or storage. (well, I have the boat on a lift under a covered dock)

IT IS NOT A TRAILERABLE COVER! The Vacu-hold is a joke!

I am overall happy with the cover, and if you are only towing at 30-45 mph the cover is fine. If you are trying to get on the highway (60-70 mph) speeds, the cover will start slipping off the run rails in the bow, and next thing you know you will be stopping to fix it.

Then stopping again in 15mins.

I promise you, I have this cover, I know its very expensive, and it is heavy duty, but don't believe what your dealer tells you about it being trailerable. My personal experience.

The commercial sewing one was the one that came with my boat. Doesnt' hold a candle to the Rankin Evolution. Get what credit you can from your dealer if you are buying a new boat, and get the rankin for a little more $$$. Worth teh cost.
