Parts #s

Recommended Posts

How do I get the correct parts numbers for replacement parts for my boat (98 response). When I asked the dealer for the part number for a steering cable they gave me a discontinued part # and don't seem real interested in getting back to me with the replacement number.

I think the people at both bakesonline.com and skidim.com would be more than happy to help you out. You probably just tell them you're make and model. Your dealer probably suspects you want the part number so that you can research where to find it cheaper thus resulting in his lack of interest to help. Not saying that's what you're doing, I'm thinking from his side.

...and, I'm sure the part number has been superseded, since 1998 used a Morse rotary for part of the year, and part of the year used a rack helm. But the dealer's parts list does not tell him if it's been superseded until he places the order with Malibu, and THEY tell him it has.

So, I can tell you this - it's a 15' cable. If you have rotary you'll need to go aftermarket to find a cable. If you have a rack it'll cost you around $125 for the super slick hi-performance rack cable. Less if you go generic. If you really must buy online, order it from Bakes, myself, or any number of dealers with websites.

Pulled the cable out yesterday. It is a Teleflex SSC 13415. Thanks for your response.
