Malibu Wakesetter 247lsv VS. Tige RZ4

Hello,

I am purchasing my first boat and have narrowed my search down to the 24' Malibu and Tige. What does everyone like and dislike about the Malibu? What does everyone like and dislike about the Tige?

I am also debating on a Malibu color scheme. I love the Extreme Green or Black Iris. Any suggestions. Will these colors affect resale value?

Thanks for your input. I'm sure it will have a huge affect on my decision.

Have you demoed both boats? I have and the 247 wins this hands down!!! As far as color scheme goes... get what you like. I had a Black and Pink LSV and was told I was crazy and resale would be bad. It was the easiest boat I ever sold.

The dealership only had a 23lsv in the water. I absolutely loved this boat. I was unable to test the Tige hence why I am asking for comparisions. Thanks for the input!

If anyone has pictures of different color scheme please post.

Both of those colors shouldn't affect resale both are classic enough imho.

Other than the obvious "pickle fork" design which is a personal, I'm not a fan of it but others are. The LSV does have a larger fuel capacity of 87gal vs. 48gal and is a bit longer 24'7" vs. 24', though the RZ4 states it can carry 17 vs. 16 in the 247. The ballast system in the 247 is 1,450lbs. + the wedge vs. 900lbs. in the RZ4. Both engine options in the Malibu have more ponies. The RZ4 is approximately 400lbs. heavier than the 247 and has less of a draft 24” vs. 27”. You’ll have to decide if Tige’s TAPS system is all that.

The best advice period is to test drive each and board/surf etc behind them to get a real seat of the pants experience. Most here probably have minimal to no experience behind the RZ4 specifically.

Obviously you will be getting some biased info from this site but I was in the same "boat" as you a few years ago.

I had a Tige 22i and wanted to get a new V-drive. The Tige had been a great boat, well built and good customer service from the dealer in Corona. So, I was pretty certain I was going back to Tige. The following summer a friend's family picked up a 23 LSV and I went on a trip with them. I had never been in a Malibu before and I couldn't believe how nice the interior was compared to the Tige. There was a ton more room and the comfort of the seats was incredible. And I know it's not fair to compare a DD to a V-Drive, but the wake was hands down the best wake I had ridden up to that point. So I knew I'd be looking at Malibu for a new boat.

I was set on a 23 after my experience but then I took a look at the 247 and knew that would be a better fit for my needs. I went and test drove it against the Tige 24VE. Here are my reasons why I bought the 247 over the Tige:

The wake was just insane, perfect for wakeboarding and surfing. I have the HH (400 HP) and it's plenty of engine. The boat handles like a 22 footer, and eats up big lake chop with no problem at all. You can easily put 10 or more people in the boat and everyone is comfortable with plenty of storage. The interior absolutely blows the Tige out of the water, the seats are made with better materials, bigger, and way more comfy. From the disappearing tow pylon to the trash can and the tray above the engine, it just seemed like more thought and practicality was put into the Malibu. And I LOVE the look of the Malibu's. While it's a hike to the dealer from where I live, the service has been great and no complaints.

Good Luck.

We had a hard time deciding on black iris because we couldn't find any samples to look at in person. Ended up taking the risk, and we love it. Some pix of the 247 with regal red and black iris can be found in this post. Hope it helps. Red/black iris 247

Malibu all the way! Yahoo.gif

We have 23LSV, Bro-in-law has a 24LSV. Nicer interior materials and layout, more dash options/features than Tige. Our friend's RZ4 is bigger, but ours feels bigger because of the "cab-forward" design. (who wants to ride up front anyway?)

Are they the same cost? I know what we paid for our boats, but I'm not sure of what you have to pay for a RZ4.

You will not be dissatisfied with a Malibu. One of the best decisions we made was buying our Malibu. Should have done it years ago. (not spam, but Xtreme marine in Paso Robles has a good price on a blue 23LSV)

Good Luck.

I agree, I also had a Tige DD and the Malibu was a much better boat, plus they wanted more for the Tige!!!

Good luck Morry
