XTI Prop recommendation?

All,

I have an '06 Wakesetter 23 XTI, 340 Monsoon, MLS and Powerwedge and need to get a second prop.

Currently I have the ACME 525 (13.00 Diameter , 11.50 Pitch, .080cup, 3 Blade), and My dealer suggested I look at the 579 (13.00 Diameter, 12.125 Pitch, .060 cup, 4 Blade). Has anyone done this? Any recommendations?

I normally wakeboard and wakesurf, don't have much in terms of non-stock ballast but the boat is usually full of people and kids. Occasionally pull a skier or footer.

Thanks

I have a 515 which I like a little better than the 525. I have a spare which is a 4-blade that may be the same one you are looking at. I'll have to check when I get home, I haven't run with it on yet. It seems the wakesports prefer a 4 blade because the "chops" between blade strokes are smaller. I've always wanted to try the 4 blade out, but I haven't gone through the trouble of swapping it yet. Let me know!

I have an OJ 13x11 on our 03 23xti 325 monsoon, it yanks us right out when the boats not way overloaded with ballast, I think I had a 515 and the 13x11 seems to pull out faster and tops out at about 44mph.

I have the exact same boat and changed props at the end of the summer for wakesurfing with a lot of weight in the back. Before buying, I talked to the dealer, an independent boat shop and two different prop manufacturers. After all the discussion, I went with ACME 13.0 x 10.5, .060 cup, 3-blade prop and it works much better for wakesurfing than the stock prop (which was the same as yours). Also, I don't think I have really noticed much loss in top end speed. So far I think it is a great prop and am not sure why it wasn't put on the boat stock -- should work great for wakeboarding and even skiing.

Anyways, I would recommend that you call ACME (look online for number) and the other big prop company (forget their name right now). They will tell you that 4-blade props do not work well on direct drive boats due to the difference in gear ratio between V-drives and I-drives. The independent boat dealer I talked to was first trying to sell me a 4-blade, but when I pressed him he admitted that he had not put one on a direct drive before, and was just trying to sell me the same lower-pitched 4-blade that he had previously put on a V-drive for someone.

However, if you do go 4-blade let me know which prop and the results -- if it works REALLY good I might consider trying it too!!
