New swim deck

Is the teak deck damaged or smashed, or is it just looking grey and faded?

If it's just grey and faded it's not too hard to refinish the desk and get it looking like new again. I did my deck after I bought the boat and it is still looking great.

Here's the thread where I refinished mine....

The Starbrite teak sealer is awesome stuff. Thumbup.gif I wish I had before pics to show how ruff that deck was - it was bad!

I'm pretty sure they didn't make composite decks back in 2000. Not saying another (later) boat wouldn't fit but, that'd be up to you to find out. I'd second re-finishing your teak deck.

Teak is a bit of a pita to up keep but with a bit of tlc its worth the trouble.I would not trade my teak swim deck ever for a fiberglass one.

I've heard a lot of complaints about slick teak and I would guess it's people that oil it a lot. I used Starbrites teak sealer and it looks great and we have never had a problem with anyone slipping. I think it is a very good surface to stand on. Like JayHoy said - it does take a little TLC to keep nice, but it's worth it! Thumbup.gif

I've never had anyone fall on my deck. I only re-finish it once a year with a teak "sealer" and it looks good as new for a whole season.

With my crew it becomes a competition, who keeps the deck the best!

I have teak & it blows. I've already sanded & oiled it once this year. A month into the year & it looks as bad as it did before I oiled it.

I kept thinking I was going to make or buy a new swimstep this year & haven't found a good option at a descent price yet.

Bill, what do you use on your teak? Love my TeakGuard. I finish mine in the fall after I put the boat away and it last all year. Also the rear of my boat faces south in my lift and gets a lot of sun and it still looks good.

I would. I don't mind the teak and I really won't have a problem living with it if necessary. However, I had a FG deck on my previous boat with nice soft foam pads and it was a lot more "user friendly". Had it 8 years, held up great no issues. Wife unit prefers the padded composite too, she's already slightly bruised one boob slipping on the teak platform... ;) It would need to be red though and fit an '03 - 06 RLXI if anyone is interested in a swap.
