I am not a huge wedge fan, but I do understand the benefits for other people. That being said here is a great vid of a good little wakeboarder, but check out the boat at about the 3:00 min mark...custom power wedge installed Whistling.gif

Great vid.

And, I can't believe you noticed that "wedge".

I wonder what it is?

I saw that pic on wakemakers.com last week when I bought a couple more sacs for my boat. It certaily looks like a Malibu wedge mounted on a Mastercraft.

yeh go australia!!!!!!!

i wonder how much stress it would be putting on the rear of the mastercraft

Im working on the exhaust ports on a x2 right now and that transom is thin, they difinitely would have to build it up for the wedge.

Johnsvt, why arn't you a fan of the wedge? I've heard this same thing several times, and don't get it, but I'm not a wake expert either. My wake for surfing and boarding look beter with it that without. Is it a shape of the wake thing?

Ha! That kid is awesome for any age!

There are some comments from the guy who installed a Wedge on the X-star on the original thread on TeamTalk

I don't care for the Wedge either (or the X-star tower for that matter). But you gotta hand it to this guy for thinking out of the box & getting it done right.

I had my boat setup with stock ballast + wedge and the wake was nice. However, I now have my boat setup with 2200-2400lbs of ballast, sans wedge, and the wake is bigger, firmer, and nicer shaped.

Secondly, gas consumption and handling is better with more weight vs. less weight and wedge.

I have wakesurfed once or twice and for wakesurfing the wedge was a must.

The TMC thread was interesting from the standpoint that the MC owners were not happy about having any sort of wedge on that boat.

Being an older MC owner & now a Malibu owner (not to mention SeaRay, Hobie & a few others), and having been a member of both the TMC sites, I've seen that sort of "holier than thou" outlook once or twice. Frankly I don't think any manufacturer has it down perfect. Certainly not so perfect that I won't ever buy another brand if something better comes out. Malibu just has it right for me at this moment.... or 90+% of it right anyway. Even as an MC owner, I didn't care for the attitude that MC does everything perfectly right.

It's like tattooing some chick/guy's name on yourself, then trying to keep yourself convinced that she/he is the perfect partner forever. Just because you were drunk enough to do it that night doesn't make it right forever. Rockon.gif
