Best prop for wakesurfing

I was out today on my 08 VLX with 750 bag in the the trunk. The wave is big and powerful but still lots of wash on the top. Never had that wash on our old VLX. I was wondering if it is because of the 1235 prop. Does the prop make any different to the wash. If so which is the best prop for wakesurfing?

I think the 1235 is the best for wakesurfing. My guess would be that you might need a little more speed or adjust the wedge.

Bob, what was your wedge position like? What happens if you throw some weight up at the front?

same boat. we run

750 in the trunk and a 400 (v-drive sac) as full as we can get it on top of the 750. i removed the plastic glove holder mounted to the hatch.

tube sac under the seat

750 on top of the seat

1 rear stock ballast

center ballast

front ballast

9.8mph

acme 1235

wedge at about 10:00 (have a hard time getting up to speed with the wedge all the way down).

we have 180# guys surfing on the phase 5 scamp which is rated for riders under 90#.

notice the homemade wakesurf rope.

is the picture on your avatar taken on woods?

I have the wedge in the full down position. If I start bringing it up i get great push but double the wash. I have heard if you put more weigh in the bow that you can use more wedge.

Going out today with extra sacs to try more weight.

Holy fat sacs batman.

We are starting up a surf school and I need the room in the boat for customers and also need to be able to change the sides quickly.

I just bought the 08 VLX hoping that I would not need all the extra bags. Drives my wife nuts when she comes because there is no room to sit or store stuff.

Picture is at Turtle Bay. We made our surf rope too. We start off the swim grid and use the rear rope point.

yeah, if you want to surf behind my boat you pretty much have to be regular footed.

what is the water temp on woods these days?

my wife won't come along when we surf, she hates the list.

we start off the swim grid as well, maybe we are just used to the rope off the tower, never tried it from the transom.

A prop will cause prop wash but IMO that is not the case for you. I would try more weight up front to start and change speed up to see what happens.
