Ballast Pump Breaker

Recommended Posts

Although I have been on this site quite a few times and appreciate the knowledge that you all have this is

my first post and I appreciate any input you may have. When I try to Fill my center ballast tank on my

'07 Virde the breaker pops. I checked all the wires that I can see and they all look good.

I assume that the pump is bad. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I confirm that it is the pump

before ordering a new one? On a worse note, I talked to a Park Ranger last weekend and he told me that the

lake only has enough water to get us thru the 4th of July. Cry.gif

Thanks,

Pat

There was a similar post to this not long ago. Exact same situation. I believe the outcome was indeed a bad pump

Yes this has been covered several times, but that's ok, I'm guilty of not wanting to use the search also. Most people would recommend pulling the pump and checking the impeller and making sure it's not clogged. You might just need to clean it out and reinstall it. The electric motor binding and creating to much draw will pop the breaker. I would try that before I ordered anything. Good luck.

I had 1 pump stuck last weekend and popping breaker. Opened pump and found impeller stuck but no trash inside. I twisted impeller till it broke loose. Thought it snapped off when it finally came loose. All OK after that. That is the first time I have had a motor seize up like that in 500 Plus hours on this boat. I keep a spare cartridge on hand when replacement is needed. Only changed 1 so far.
