tach not working

I have an 05 VLX with the tach and perfect pass in the same guage. Perfect pass works fine, but the tach does not give any reading. What should I check?? Thanks

If you have the PerfectPass gauge with the analog tach, it is likely toast. There have been several discussions about this (do a search) but no solutions other than upgrading to a multi-line PerfectPass gauge (last I checked, $200 ... call PerfectPass). I thought 2004 was the last year for the PP with the analog tach. If yours is the multi-line digital gauge then your RPM source will go directly to the PP module instead of through the gauge first (see attached drawing).

I personally like the analog tach and did not want to go to the digital gauge. You will sometimes find them for sale (used) when someone does an upgrade or moves to StarGazer.

Mine has quit too. Is the upgrade easy to install and what is better about it?
