Broken Windshield

Recommended Posts

Today while towing my sportster down the highway a bird ( I think ) hit the windshield on the boat and shattered it. Cry.gif I was lucky it was only the small center piece where you walk through. Has anyone ever had this happen to them before and is it hard to replace? Can I just go to a glass place and have it fixed or is this something I need to order from Malibu? Can I remove that part of the windshield by itself?? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Cheers,

Gibbo

Call your boat insurance company and have them replace it. If you strike an opject in the water they will do the fiberglass repair. This is no difference. If they say it is different pitch a fit and screem like a baby till they give in.

That’s a bummer!

Not sure if its really worth an insurance claim if its only the door glass? Don’t know how much your deductible is or what that will do to your premium in the future?

I would start with the dealer and get a price. If it seems outrageous then contact a local glass or automotive glass shop.

I think you got pretty lucky, that middle piece of glass should come right out, just pop the pins out of the hinge to remove that section of windshield.

I would imagine any good glass shop could replace that flat piece of glass no problem. The issues lots of people have is when the curved piece of glass breaks.
