Manifold water hose

Recommended Posts

I have been looking at my engine heater hose coming out of the manifolds for some time with a bit of concern. The way I bought this boat it was set up with a plastic garden hose quick connect between the two manifolds. Unfortunately, this quick connect sits right on top of the engine computer cover. I realized that if that coupler ever failed it would ruin the electronics. So here is my question to you gurus out there. Was there some particular reason that they kept the hose short and up high on top of the cover or can I just run a longer hose down under near the top of the tranny? I would also replace the coupler with a metal one and move it to one side.

And while I am at it I have another dumb question that has probably been covered many a time here. For various reasons I don't want to go into I am going to use two jabsco ballast puppys to fill my rear sacs and one center sac. The rears would have a y fitting and fill together. I was planning on putting in a vent line on the top of the bags and over the side just to let overfill dump out or let air in while emptying. Is this vent line necessary and do you think that it would be beneficial to vent the fill lines into this vent line as well?

if your hose leaks, your computer will probably be fine, they are sealed very well. but mine is set up just like you want yours. Offset to the port side, sits on the transmission, has metal hose connectors.

Thanks

I thought so. I just hated to see this plastic garden hose quick connect sitting on top of my very expensive fake carbon fiber covered electronic control panel. Not that it keeps me up at night but I do tend to err on the side of caution.

Typically there is enough hose so you can route it above the tranny but below the computer. I would not like to ever see the computer get drenched with hot water if that hose ever failed.
