There was an incident on Lake Mc Clure back in the the early 90's where a jet skier was buzzing to close the a bass boat and pi$$ed off the fisherman enough that he statred up his boat and rammed the jet skier knocking her off the jet ski and cutting her up very badly with his prop. Luckily she lived.

He then left the lake, his young son who was with, finally felt guilty enough and Narc'ed his Dad out.

He went to trial for attempted murder but was found not guilty, the reasoning was (what we heard) that if he had been sent to prison his insurance would not have paid for medical and financial damages to tha lady he hit..

The guy was an airline mechanic from the San Jose area.

This is all just scary stuff !!

We had the opposite at a local lake where a ski boat ran through a bass boat and fled the scene. The local police tracked the guy down. He is currently doing time IIRC.

Not exactly heresay if there are eyewitnesses in the boat that saw it happen. But it is a he said she said kind of thing, just like the OP in the link said. Still, if it really happened that way & it were me, I'd be pushing hard to bring charges.
