Broken bolt on tow rope bracket

Recommended Posts

OK, thin is one of these things where you say, “I should have left it alone”! Cry.gif

I was cleaning the Bu today. There was a little rust/grime built up around the tow rope bracket (above the platform) where it connects to the fiberglass. So I had the bright idea of taking it off to clean it real good. Everything was fine in removing the first three nuts. But the forth…..the bolt snapped off.

Aside from using a tap and die set is there a way to replace the bold? They appear to be welded in. It’s too late to call the boat shop as their closed till Tuesday. Does anyone know what a new one would cost or does anyone have an old one they want to sell?

This thing?

Yup, that's it. I was able to get the old one fixed for $35. Pretty good considering how mad I was for braking it to begin with. Anyway, I had new threads tapped into the hole where the broken bolt was and it's ready for the lake. :)
