When replacing the distribution cap and rotor its nothing more then matching the wires exactly like on the old distributor and replacing the rotor ?

Also does anyone know where the fuel filter is located on the 04 malibu wakesetter with the monsoon?

Yes on the distributor question. As for the fuel filter question, I can tell you that on a 99 Response there is one about 8" after the fuel shutoff. The shut off is accessed through a pocket in the rear panel of the trunk. If yours has same, reach in and follow hose from shut off. You should be able to feel inline filter if it;s there. If so, you need to remove rear panel to get to filter. About 8 screse imbedded in carpet. I have a second filter on the engine, same side as oil filter. That one has threaded couplings.
