I read the how-to on converting over to the float arm fuel sender, sounds great. My problem is that I can't find the SAE standard 5- hole float arm fuel sender ( as listed in the forum) on the recommended web sites.

A part number or item number would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have some other parts that I'm looking for... Is it possible to get a pdf. of my 2001 malibu wakesetter that will show part numbers???

Looks like West Marine now only has the more expensive Moeller sender, which seems pretty steep at $60.

Just about any marine parts retailer should have a sender comparable to the one at SkiDIM. Here's one for the same price from Overtons.

Thanks Mike, I just bought the one from Overtons. I talked to a support team member today at the Malibu Plant in Merced, Ca. I'm looking for the Taylor Made windshield support bar ( 9 inch), they gave me a part # 5795003 and the number to Taylo Made, too late to call and no luck on thier website. I googled it and all I can find is 12",13", 14" and 15". Any info on where I can find this part?

Any tricks to the install? It seems pretty straight forward to me. Disconnect the electric, unbolt, and put the new one in. It does mention on the website that the new one needs to be trimmed, is this the case, and if so how is that done?

Should have instructions based on model...

Depending on the model of the sender, it will likely be mounting arm length & float arm length.

I just used a hacksaw one time and a Dremel with cutoff wheel another to trim to the instructed length based on tank depth.

Edit - Also be aware, the holes are not evenly spaced, so it will go in only one way. This may mean you have to rotate the arm to the correct direction.

It will require trimming, unless your tank is 27" deep (it's not) Like wienrdog said, that sender will have very explict instructions on how to cut the mounting and float arms based on the actual depth of your tank.

Follow the instructions carefully, measure a couple times then cut, and you can be assured that you will finally have an accurate fuel guage in your boat.

After I put the teleflex sender in mine, the guage is as reliable (and accurate) as the one in my truck...or so it seems.
