Anchor Buddy

I was wondering how long the anchor buddy is when it is not streched, and does any body know or can find out for me what size bungy cord is used?

Overtons say it goes from 14' to 50' so I am thinking the cord is 12' long and streches to 4 times it's length to 48'. I looked at some 3/8" cord and a 1' piece of it only streched 5" so that would not come even close, the 1/4" cord streched to double it's lenght but I don't think it would be strong enough.

I am trying to build one out of a tub rope I got.

It uses some sort of tubing, not a bungy cord. It is two pieces: a surgical tubing (or somesuch) core surrounded by an elasticized, braided jacket.

Thanks, that makes a difference.

surrounded by an elasticized, braided jacket.

Is this the outer material or is the rope made up of 3 pieces?

I agree with Addictedto6...definitely worth it to buy the product. You can see in the picture at Bart's how the braided jacket goes around the tubing core. For $27.00 (including the hardware) it's a pretty good bargain.

Mike

I used mine this weekend...

Where've you been Woody? Any chance of making it to Bullard's this week-end with that Anchor Buddy? (Thought I ought to mention the Anchor Buddy so that it wasn't obviously a Hi-Jack). Crazy.gif

Last year during 4th of July at Clear lake we were floating in Konocti Harbor listening to the Steve Miller band and the wind started to pickup. It was really a joke watching all the boats passing us at least 4 had to pickup their anchor and move. We use ours all the time.

When trying to decide where to test your anchor buddy might I suggest that you look for a 10'x10' blue shade canopy that says "GT Bicycles" on it. Biggrin.gif

this is probably a case I would shell out the coin instead of DIY:

I would shell out the cash Man. The over all size is not to bad to fit into a bag. Just remember to have a hard line the will only let it stretch to 45 ft.

Whistling.gif I will also be testing my buddy this weekend at bullards. O Woody I will have a HUGE USA flag on top of my boat not like the big one Mike had last time. Whistling.gif
