Cruise Control Broken

Recommended Posts

This summer I had hit a piece of wood in the water and instantly my cruise control stopped working..After turning off the cruise I noticed that the speedometer was jumping up and down by about 3-4 miles which is why the cruise stopped working. There was no prop damage and inspected the paddle wheel and it seems fine..Spins freely. So i guess i need to replace the airmar part. Will I need a special part that will work with the malibu? Where can I find one online. I have a 2006 vlx. thanks

I'm assuming its either the Low Profile P371 or Flush P398.

It may be hard to tell, but I think you're missing a paddle on the paddle wheel. It will probably spin freely, but be lopsided. You may have also bent the pin in there. Inspect it more carefully. You can also take it apart. It unscrews from under the trans inside the boat. the replacement paddle kit is about $20 I think, but I don't think it comes with a new pin.

thanks for the replies. After checking a little closer I think it may be the pin is bent. The wheel is fine. Gonna order replacement paddle wheel kit and hope that fixs it.
