Removing the Flame Arrestor

Recommended Posts

I am having trouble removing the flame arrestor from my 2007 Malibu V-ride. I am able to remove a large hose clamp but that doesn't seem to help. I am still unable to lift it off in order to spray the fogging oil for winterization. The engine is a 2007 Indmar 320 LCR.

I use a pair of channel lock pliers with rubberized handles. I spread the handles apart and slide

them under the flame arrestor after the hose clamp is sufficiently loosened. I then gently rock

the pliers back and forth while pulling upwards. The arrestor will rub slightly against some posts,

IIRC, but it'll eventually pop off.

I've been doing it this way since '06. Works well for me. I haven't bent or distorted the arrestor

housing at all doing it this way. YMMV.

I was able to take off the flame arrestor the way that you mentioned. It came right off...... Thank you for the advice!

Glad to help out, and welcome to the Crew! Lots of great information here. I can't even guess

how much time, effort, and money I've saved by using this site as a resource.
