hi there l will be getting my vtx on the 3rd of november and i was reading some other topics about reversing an inboard

coming form a stern drive is it really going to be harder to reverse because the ramps we got to are only small

most definitely! But you'll get used to it, and the performance you get out of that VTX while going forward will far out weight the poor back-up performance.

Welcome!

The boat will reverse just fine. It's just that it may not go the direction you want it to until you get used to it. As Chadwick says, once you get used to it, it's not bad. The only time it becomes a little stressful is when there is a lot of other boat traffic around the ramp. It is very difficult to manuever around other boats in reverse and the I/O and outboard owners will all stare at you like you don't know how to drive a boat.

Get yourself one of those telescoping boat hooks to use to guide yourself around the docks until you get the hang of it. And remember, the damage to your boat and wallet increase exponentially with speed when you hit something, so take it slow for a while.

Good advise here. Use the search function and you will find lots of good threads that address this in detail.

If you are having trouble with searching, just contact SacRiverRat and he'll be glad to fill you in - it's one of his pet peeves.
