Wakeboarding & Skiing

Adding extra weight up front and of course unloading all the other ballast is the best setup. I'd try about 200-300lbs upfront and play w/ it until you like it, keep the other boat weight to a minimum .ie. people/gear/fuel. You'll also want to ski faster behind this boat then you would normally imho. Get that boat up to at least 32+ and it's better.

I have a 2008 vRide. I love boarding, but also like to waterski. Any tips on getting a better waterski wake from the vRide.

We have an 06 Vride and 99% wakeboarding, but I did use it for the occasional ski outing. Big key is to not have any weight in the boat that is not essential (take everything out), including people. I added a little weight in the front left. Seemed the boat wanted to sit slightly starboard with just the driver. At about 30-33, it was not bad.

Agree - the inboard set-up is better, but the layout is not as good as the v-drive. Trying to balance the wakeboarding, skiing, surfing use of the boat. Any oppinions on best all around boat / set-up??

How much weight up front? What did you use?

I agree with bringing the speed up. Also look at shortening the rope. I had a 21.6 V drive Centurion and at 36mph and 41 off it had a very good wake. If you are not an aggressive skier 41 off and 36 may be a bit much but play with your rope length and speed. I also put a four blade prop on it softened the wake.

When my son left home I found the best fix ever. I got read of the wake board boat and got my Bu 07 RLXI Yahoo.gif

I put about 100-150lbs and we had steel plates (40lb each) that we used in another boat for wakeboarding back in the day. I keep the same weight in there when wakeboarding, but just move it to the rear port side as it seems to keep the boat more level (doesn't wash out one wake) when just my wife is driving and doesn't want to worry about getting the ballasts just right. But let me preface, I am very much just a recreational skier, so it was great for what I wanted to do. It’s a wakeboard hull for sure and wants to throw a wake.
