power wedge issues on 08 VLX

I just bought a new 08 VLX and had problems with the power wedge from day one. The dealer first said it needed calibrating. Then last week the wedge got stuck in the down position and would not move. I took it to the dealer today and we were trying to figure it out. What it ended up being was the paddle wheel for the speedo. I would not have thought this because the speedo and cruise worked perfect. The mechanic said that the paddle wheel has separate wires for the speedo, cruise control, lake temp gauge and wedge (wedge won't go up until the boat is going 1-10mph). Works perfect now.

That's not entirely true. The paddle wheel actually has only one set of wires that go to the engine controller. The ECM then broadcasts speed over the digital databus to the other modules, including the one that controls the gauges and has the safety interlocks for the power wedge movement. The power wedge cannot be moved up unless the boat is going at least 0.3 mph for safety reasons. The power wedge can be moved up in the wake-shaping region from 0.3 mph and up. Above 10 mph, the power wedge cannot be moved up into the deploy region, again for safety reasons.
