Rock Tamer "Mud Flaps"

I just purchased this removal mud flap system, every other package I looked at was over $350, the company was great to deal with. Great customer service Thumbup.gif

Just an FYI to everyone that may have interest:

They are awesome and adjustable, I haven't actually pulled the boat with them so I'm not sure if there are any negatives to them yet but they fit very well and the adjusting capability makes them very universal

Edit:The only issue I have is the exhaust tips come from right under my rear bumper so there is about 8-9 inch from the tips to the mud flaps(exhaust heat may be an issue, not sure yet). If I had the tips exiting from behind the rear wheels I wouldn't be concerned "in my case" of any other problems.

i had a buddy that had a temporary exhaust tip he put on his diesel for towing (so it didn't get the lovely black carbon all over the boat) it worked really good and basically just curved the exhaust out and off to the side. it looked a little goofy but he just used it for towing so it really didn't matter. you might want to look into something like that before you burn up your new flaps!

Yeah Tony,

Exhaust gasses coming out of the tail pipes when the car is under load are very hot. You might have a problem here.

when we had the motorhome, i installed a rock guard along the back, the exhaust melted a couple of the flaps before i got around to trimming them. I consider myself lucky it didn't catch on fire.

I guess I'll drop the flaps down a bit to make some room between the bumper and the top of the bracket that holds the flaps on  The temporary turn out tips sounds like a great idea Thumbup.gif

I have a set of the rock tamers and really like them. It's hard to tell exactly how effective they are, but I believe that in the long run they will pay for themselves as one gel coat repair could exceed the cost.

I made a set of these out of a piece of 1 1/2" angle iron the width of my truck, a 2" U bolt, and a dirt skirt from a motor home for less than a hundred bucks. It mounts to the hitch and keeps the boat clean. I have been using this set up for five years now, and will not tow my boat without it.

Just look at the front side of them after a few months. You'll be amazed at how much road debris they catch.

Rock Tamers... $180 (Including shipping and handling) from Costco.

Search for "Rock Tamers"

You didn't have to rain on my parade  I usually do that, check the web for the cheapest price but I didn't this time around. I thought the $199 plus $20 shipping was fair and I didn't have to waste any gas to go get them even though we have a costco miles from our house. Win some, loose some all in all I'm pretty happy with them so far Thumbup.gif

M-dude and NV have the roadwing and have worked out great for them.

Mine are still adjustable Biggrin.gif

I looked at those but why did I need adjustable flaps...well I didn't so no need to spend $$$ more . Mine has worked well for both my TT and the boat. No need to worry about the exhaust pipe, mine sits back far enough it doesn't require any mods to make it work.

Sorry to do that but I was trying to help other on the site save money if they can. Don't worry too much someone always finds a better deal than me if they spend countless hours doing it but a person's time is worth something too. Byt the way, I am happy with mine too.
