I am looking for the chain that connects the gas cap to the housing unit and cannot find it anywhere. I went to Lowe's, Home Depot, even called Malibu and no one has ball chain that's big enough. Anyone know where to get it?

Try calling these guys and ask them if you can buy the chain separately, they sell the gas cap set-up...

I bought it at Ace Hardware. Bought about 8 inches and another coupler for both gas caps so I can lay them on my gunnel when fueling. No more spilled gas on cap to get on hands when putting cap back on. No more cap banging on gelcoat while hanging under gas nozzle and most important, no more worry about chain breaking and cap falling in water. Chain and couplers only cost a couple bucks.

I switched to a cable instead of that bead chain that breaks so easy.

Anybody can make a cable with two swedges eyelets on each end, getting the screw out of the fuel neck is a real pain the a$$ especially in a response...

you can sort of see the new style chain in these pictures on bake's site... http://bakesonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=755

Great idea, Denny. Found it at Ace & only cost like $2.

Such a stupid easy thing to do that solves several issues. Why doesn't Malibu get the point?
