Recommended Posts

all my gages except the deph meter stopped working, ended up installing new mdc unit, they now work but stop then start again, this was happening before my old mdc unit quit. we've checked the grounds and connections and all seem be be ok. would welcome any suggestions.

Sorry to hear you are having troubles. I know it can be a PITA. Hope this helps.

I stumbled across some useful tips in my search for fixing my gauges. Mine seem to work now that I replaced the MMDC, but here is an portion from the

Troubleshooting Guide for Medallion II Series Instruments that may relate to your problem. (I pulled the info from the web and have no idea how accurate it is but they may help your situation.)

2" Instruments work erratically after engine start.

Gauges could act erratically when the battery power located on I A of the 18-pin connector is low. This is caused by several problems.

1. Battery charge is low

2. Battery is bad and drops low when cranking

3. Battery connection on pin IA is had or intermittent connection

4. Battery connection for I A is the same circuit that the Starter is on.

Recommended fix

1. Check battery for proper charge

2. Change location of battery source to a direct battery feed

3. When possible wait 5 seconds before re-cranking engine.

If those measures do not cure the erratic gauges replace unit with 6607-20009-01 rev G

I will try to PM you the troubleshooting guide I found but I have had issues with my PM lately.
