waterpump problem 350 vortec 310hp

I noticed this problem when I got the boat initially.

there's a little bit of spray coming from the back of the water pump. after a the boat is started from cold - and only when its sat for at least a few days. give it 10-20 seconds and it stops.

could it be a bad gasket or is the pump going?

the boat sits at 160 always.

Had this at one point a couple years ago started as small drip. Kept ignoring it. DON'T It's a small seal at back of impellar as I rememeber, If you let it go you'll be changing whole housing and shaft as it eventually wears out the shaft. Mike

its not the Raw water pump that houses the impeller, its the circulation or main water pump attached to the motor.

there is no drip at all, it sprays at cold start then goes away... weird

oops sorry! sounds like gasket to me!
